A revenue forecast that already knows your booked work

Ambital's forecast shows your financial year month by month: what live projects are due to bill, deals in your pipeline, the targets you still plan to win and the money already paid, all against your revenue goal. Build pricing scenarios, compare two side by side and track the one you commit to.

Ambital revenue forecast for FY 2026/27: a £145,000 goal, £130,130 booked, £21,500 pipeline and £88,200 of targets, stacked month by month against paid invoices

Where the numbers come from

Nothing to type twice

  • Booked: what each live project should bill each month, from its retainer, invoice schedule or scheduled hours
  • Pipeline: open deals, in the month they are expected to close
  • Targets: work you plan to win, spread over the months you choose
  • Actual: paid invoices, in the month the money arrived
  • Months already gone count at actual

What you decide

Your plan, your call

  • A revenue goal and a take-home target for each scenario
  • Which scenario is your active plan
  • Your own figure for any booked month, by typing over it
  • When a target has landed, once its deal is won
  • Which financial year you are looking at

How it works

A plan for the year in four steps

  1. Step 1: Set up a scenario

On the Pricing page, set your revenue goal, running costs, capacity and the targets you plan to win.

  2. Step 2: Open the forecast

Booked work, pipeline and targets appear month by month, with the gap to your goal.

  3. Step 3: Compare plans

Pick a second scenario to see the two side by side, month by month.

  4. Step 4: Track the one you choose

Make it your active plan. As projects bill and deals close, the forecast moves with them.

Inside forecasting

Everything the forecast shows you

Goal to gap

Six figures across the top: your goal, booked work, pipeline, targets, what has been paid so far and the gap still to find.

Booked by project

Each live project's expected billing by month. Amber cells are your own overrides; clear one to go back to the worked-out figure.

Scenario comparison

Put a second scenario beside the one you are tracking. A deal linked to one scenario's targets is not counted twice.

Ambital pipeline board: lead, discovery, proposal and won stages with a weighted pipeline of £25,825

Pipeline

Deals move through stages on the pipeline board, which shows their weighted value. Open deals feed the forecast in the month they should close.

Won deals flagged

When a deal linked to a target is won, the forecast asks you to mark the target landed so it is not counted twice.

Ask Ambi about the year

Ask what you are on track to bring in this year and Ambi answers from the same numbers you see on the forecast.

Questions about forecasting

Before you plan the year

Which plan includes forecasting?
Forecasting is included from Business (£59 a month), along with pricing scenarios and advanced and custom reports.
Is the forecast revenue or cash?
It is a billing and cash view. It shows when money should be invoiced and when it arrived; work delivered but not yet billed is in Reports.
Where does the booked figure come from?
It comes from each live project's billing setup: a retainer's fee for each period, a fixed-fee project's invoice schedule, or scheduled hours at the project rate for time and materials.
Can I override a month?
Yes. Type over any booked month to set your own figure, and clear the cell to go back to the figure worked out from the project.
Does the forecast count a deal twice?
No. A deal linked to a target is counted inside that target, not as pipeline, and a won deal whose target is still open is flagged so you can mark it landed.
