Files and folders
Keep every document a project needs in one place — uploaded, linked from Google Drive, or a plain URL — and decide exactly what the client sees.
The Files tab on a project holds everything that isn't a task or a message: briefs, decks, spreadsheets, contracts, recordings. Files can be uploaded, linked from Google Drive (no copy — Ambital just points at the Drive file), or added as a link to anything else (Notion, Figma, a shared folder).
Folders
Folders are yours to shape — create as many as the project needs from the left-hand rail, rename with a double-click, archive when a stage is done. A file can sit in more than one folder: the Folder column on every file row shows where it lives, with + Add folder to file it somewhere else and × on a chip to take it out. Moving a document is just adding the new folder and removing the old one, and that works from inside any folder or from Unfiled — not only from All files.
Uploads and links you add while viewing a folder land in that folder automatically.
Doing several at once
Tick the box at the start of any row — or the one in the table header to take every file in the current view — and a bar appears above the list with what you can do to the lot: Archive (or Unarchive when you're looking at archived files), + Add to folder, and Delete. Delete asks once for the whole selection. Filing keeps the selection so you can add the same files to a second folder straight after; archiving and deleting clear it, because those rows have left the view.
Making room
Both rails fold away when the table needs the width. The small panel icon at the top of the section list (Emails, Meetings, Files…) collapses it to icons, and Ambital remembers that choice in your browser; the one beside Folders hides the folder rail until you bring it back.
Finding a file
Type in the search box above the list. It matches the file name, whoever added it, and the folder it sits in, so "contract" and "Jane" both work. Search stays inside the folder you're viewing; if the file is somewhere else, the empty result tells you how many matches exist elsewhere and offers a one-click jump to All files.
What the client sees
Nothing, until you say so. A folder is Internal until you Add to portal; a file is Not in the portal until you press Portal on its row. Once something is in the portal you choose its audience — everyone on the project, a particular organisation, or named people — and a folder can be handed to one organisation in a single move. Files in a portal folder inherit the folder's audience unless you've set the folder to decide file by file.

Upload limits
The per-file upload limit depends on your plan:
| Plan | Per file |
|---|---|
| Free | 50 MB |
| Pro | 50 MB |
| Business | 250 MB |
| Business Pro | No limit |
If an upload fails, the message says which file and why — over the plan limit, or a storage problem — so you're never left guessing. Linked Drive files and URLs don't count against any limit; they're references, not copies.
