Desktop activity tracker

Ambital's own tracker — connect it once with a token, and your computer remembers your day.

Business plan and above

The desktop activity tracker is Ambital's own — a small app on your machine that records which applications and windows were active, feeding the Activity page and the timesheet day timeline so you can turn real activity into logged time.

Connecting

  1. Go to Settings → Desktop Tracker and generate an access token. The token acts as you — treat it like a password, and revoke and re-create it if you ever lose track of it.
  2. Install the Ambital desktop tracker on your machine and paste the token in once.
  3. Activity starts flowing while the tracker runs. Stop the app and nothing is recorded.

What it's for

The full guide to using it — the Activity page, dragging tracked blocks onto tasks, hiding private apps and keywords — is The activity tracker. The short version: ten minutes reviewing the timeline at day's end recovers time you'd never have billed.

Privacy, briefly

Your tracked activity is yours alone — clients and team members never see it, and you can hide any app or keyword from the breakdown. The recording happens on your machine, under your control.

Note: the activity tracker needs the Business plan or above.
