Xero
Invoices, bills and expenses synced from your bookkeeping and matched to projects.
Connecting Xero makes your project financials read from your real bookkeeping instead of a parallel set of numbers: invoices, bills and expenses flow in and match to projects, and status changes flow through without re-keying.
Connecting
- Go to Settings → Integrations and click Connect on the Xero card.
- Approve access in Xero, choosing the Xero organisation to link.
The connection belongs to your organisation — one connection serves all your projects.
What syncs
- Invoices — synced both ways in status: what's sent and what's paid stays current, invoices match to their projects, and each one deep-links to its Xero counterpart for the bookkeeping view.
- Bills — pull supplier bills into Business → Bills, ready to assign to projects so they count against margin. See Expenses and bills.
- Contacts — invoices match to your CRM's clients, so revenue lands against the right company.
The full picture of how invoicing behaves once connected is in Invoices and accounting sync.
Portal bonus
With Xero connected, portal clients can be given invoice viewing — a View link to the online invoice and a PDF download, each client seeing only their own.
Other accounting systems
Ambital's finance layer is accounting-system-neutral under the hood — QuickBooks is planned as the next connector. If you're on something else, you can still record and track invoices in Ambital manually.
Note: accounting sync needs the Business plan or above, and connecting is admin-only.
Where this fits
Part of how Ambital runs finance and month-end retainers. Each page shows how the project is set up, what it looks like, and the integrations that fit.
