Slack

Link Slack channels to projects and Ambital posts status updates, task assignments and approvals there.

Business plan and above

The Slack integration keeps project channels in the loop without anyone copy-pasting: link a channel to a project and Ambital posts there when a status update is published, a task is assigned or completed, or an approval is requested.

Connecting

  1. In Settings → Integrations, open the Slack card and click Connect Slack.
  2. Slack asks you to pick a workspace and approve the Ambital app — approve, and you land back in Ambital with the workspace connected.
  3. Connect as many workspaces as you work in — your own, and client workspaces you've been invited to. Slack Connect shared channels work too.

Linking channels

On the workspace, click Link a channel, pick the channel and the project it belongs to, and save. From then on that channel hears about the project. Per channel you can switch each of the three post types on or off — status updates, tasks, approvals.

Two things worth knowing:

  • Public channels work straight away — the bot doesn't need to be a member to post.
  • Private channels only appear in the picker (and only accept posts) after someone runs /invite @Ambital in that channel.

Turning conversations into tasks

Two gestures send a Slack conversation into Ambital:

  • ⋯ menu → Send to Ambital on any message. A small Slack dialog asks which project (pre-filled when the channel is linked) and whether to create a task or a note — the message and its whole thread are captured together, with a link back to Slack.
  • React with 📌 on a message in a linked channel and it's captured automatically as a note against that channel's project — no dialog.

Notes land in the Notes Inbox; tasks appear on the chosen project straight away, titled from the message (editable in the dialog).

Slack in status-update drafts

When a project has linked channels, the AI status-update drafter offers a Slack source chip alongside Tasks, Meetings and Emails: it reads the period's recent messages from those channels as background (never quoted or attributed in the client-facing draft). It's a light signal — Slack limits how much history apps can read — so anything important is still best captured explicitly with 📌 or Send to Ambital.

What Ambital won't do

Ambital doesn't read your Slack messages beyond the ones you explicitly send it or pin — there is no background message sync. It won't post to any channel you haven't explicitly linked, and it won't DM anyone.

Note: the Slack integration needs the Business plan or above.
